It begins with a request for help from an old friend...a request to expose the corruption that has seeped into the Rheinhardt Furniture Factory...a request that brings Peter Leighton and his stepbrother, Daven Ashby, to Sandorville, Michigan...a discreet request that evolves into a perilous mission.

As the brothers become embroiled in the graft and treachery within the factory, they are propelled down separate paths—and each soon finds his resolve shaken...his faith tested...and his outlook altered. Along their journeys, they also encounter Anna Spreyer, a doctor’s daughter, whose gentleness and inner strength touch them both. It is her influence that enables the brothers to forgive and overcome the sadness and bitterness flavoring their every move...and it is her devotion that helps one of them as he comes to a crossroads—a crossroads which will change his life forever.

Against a backdrop of gaslit streets, horse-drawn carriages, and telegraphed messages, To Repay A Debt glimpses into the lives of three dauntless souls as they struggle to right a wrong—and end up fighting for their lives.

Description of Content

The first in a series, To Repay A Debt takes place during the upswing of Michigan’s Victorian-era furniture industry and revolves around a diverse and passionate group of people. No one famous, no one who will be recorded in the history books—just individuals experiencing the joys and sorrows of life in the late nineteenth-century Midwest. And yet, within this tale of the past, the characters face many of the same questions and problems that still arise today.

Moose Run Productions acquired this title (previously released as Walking in the Midst) after a successful yet very limited release in the author’s hometown. Working with the author, Moose Run was able to expand, revise, retitle, and reissue this novel as the first book in a series.

Audience

Both men and women of all ages have enjoyed To Repay A Debt. In addition, the historically correct setting and circumstances, the wholesome Christian-based message, and the can’t-put-the-book-down story line make this novel stand out from the crowd.
